Why “The Garden”?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Wine was invented by accident, nobody really knows by whom or when and does it even really matter? We believe in staying true to terroir – that means making as few interventions in the winemaking process as humanly possible; some would call that lazy – we say it’s pragmatic and true to the origins of wine. We make wine in our garden so it stands to reason we’d put that on the label, doesn’t it? Tbilisi was always a winemaking region and we think that a semi-urban winery is a great addition to the capital of The Caucasus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What about the grapes?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
We source grapes from clean and natural family owned lots where the only anti-fungals used are sulphur at the start of the season and copper where necessary during the season – we prefer vineyards that have good drainage, less precipitation and a healthy flow of wind so that nature keeps the grapes as healthy as can be. For 2022 we’ve worked with 3 varieties – Chinuri from Okami, Kartli, Rkatsiteli from Bolnisi, Kartli and Ojaleshi from Leliani, Kakheti. All naturally farmed and delicately handled when making wine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Who makes the wine?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Starting in 2020 when they bought a smallholding in Imereti, Western Georgia Louisa and Adrian dived head first into making wines in as natural way as possible; exploring endemic grape varieties and challenging the received wisdom of what’s possible to make in Georgia through experimentation – as a couple they shared the vision to create fusion wines that bridge the gap between Georgian and European wine styles so that the finesses of Georgian grapes and terroirs can be appreciated in the glass.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
